A highly sought after variety of the prayer plant family, the black Maranta features soft green leaves highlighted by silver mid veins on a water colour backdrop of rich purply black. Like their Calathea cousins, they prefer indirect light, a warm space and a good amount of humidity - a pebble tray or humidifier will do wonders - however they tend to be far more tolerant of less than ideal circumstances, and will do just as well in normal household humidity.

When watering, keep them on the slightly damp side. Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry out, but never let them dry out completely.
